Towards inclusive urban societies

Social and economic challenges

About Inclusive Urban Societies

The “Inclusive Urban Societies” project is studying how the process of touristification, as an urban transition, interacts with precariousness in housing and work. It is developing a single and innovative conceptual framework linking housing and labour precariousness to touristification, conducting a secondary survey for the entire NUTS-2 regions of the EU and field research in selected areas of Athens and Thessaloniki, and visualising the collected data through tables, maps, and graphs in an inclusive Labour and Housing Observatory.

Goals

Research

Contribute to research on labour and housing precarity focusing on two Greek metropolitan areas and advance conceptualizations of touristification and its implications.

Tools

Achieve a holistic and geographically detailed approach on complex interlinked processes through an Online Observatory which will process data and visualize results.

Societal Impact

Provide a pathway towards more inclusive urban societies through informing the public and assisting policymaking.

Inclusive Labour and
Housing Observatory

The Inclusive Labour and Housing Observatory visualizes the collected data on linkage between housing / labour precarity and touristification, for the whole NUTS-2 regions of the EU, and selected areas of Athens and Thessaloniki, through tables, maps and graphs.
