Our project’s results on mass media
Our project keeps on spreading the word on Touristification in the Greek context, as three articles were published at various mass media, and more specifically at Rodiaki, Kathimerini and Imerisia magazines!
These articles highlight the results of our project’s studies. In particular, they mention that Greece has become one of the most touristificated countries in Europe. Through the usage of a composite index, the articles show that Southern Aegean and Ionian Islands ranked first and second respectively, among 254 EU regions in 2022, while the region of Crete also made it into the top 10.
However, the heavy reliance on tourism hasn’t led to broader economic growth or better job conditions. In fact, it could potentially harm local industries, environments, and residents, thus leading to the need for more sustainable and versatile regional development.
