New Scientific Paper: “Touristification Geographies in the EU during the 2010s Recession: A Composite Index Analysis”

By admin

We’re excited to share our latest research article, “Touristification Geographies in the EU during the 2010s Recession: A Composite Index Analysis,” now published by Springer Nature Link.

The study examines how tourism evolved across EU regions during a decade marked by major economic and social shifts—from the aftermath of the 2008–2009 global financial crisis to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a newly developed Touristification Composite Index, we map patterns of tourism growth and pressure across all EU NUTS-2 regions.

Our analysis highlights how tourism reshaped local economies, revealing both increasing regional reliance on the sector and the territorial challenges that emerged alongside it.
