Dr. Kostas Gourzis studied Urban Planning & Development at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (BSc) and Economic Geography at the Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands (MSc). His PhD was awarded from the Department of Geography of the University of the Aegean, and focused on the link between gentrification and labour market precarization in the context of Athens, Greece. He has worked as a junior and senior researcher in multiple international research projects funded by national and international institutions (including the EEA Grants). He has published in numerous international scientific journals of high impact factor including Antipode (Wiley), the International Journal of Urban and Regional Research (Wiley-Blackwell), European Urban and Regional Studies (SAGE), and Urban Studies (JSTOR). He is a Fulbright Alumni, he has received a long-term scholarship for his PhD from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation, and he has been awarded with the 2022 Jim Lewis Prize for the most innovative research paper of the year, and the 2015 Herta Macht Thesis Prize for the highest quality masters thesis submitted to a Dutch university in the field of Spatial Sciences.
